Tie Down Straps for Cargo Control Applications
Tie Down Straps have become the go-to method for securing cargo inside pickup truck beds, moving vans, dry vans, enclosed trailers, utility trailers, flatbeds, and more. Several popular varieties of tie-down straps such as Ratchet Straps, Cam Buckle Straps, Endless Loops, E Track Straps, Winch Straps, and Retractable Ratchet Straps.
All listed tie-down straps commonly use polyester tie-down webbing blends to secure the cargo. Polyester webbing provides minimal stretching, on average under 7%. Polyester also provides unmatched durability and protection against moisture, mold, mildew, and direct sunlight, helping to keep the webbing in good condition and ensuring your safety.
At Trucking Depot, we take pride in the quality of our tie-down straps and comply with the Department of Transportation (DOT) general guidelines for cargo control. All of our straps include a safe working load limit rating sewn onto the tie-down straps so that you know exactly what your straps are rated for.

Ratchet Tie Down Straps
Ratchet Straps are the most popular tie down straps commonly used for their heavy-duty strength and durability. Ratchet Straps utilize Ratchet Hardware that allows the strap to tighten in one direction to the desired strength. As the ratchet hardware mechanism flows in one direction tightening the webbing and locking it in place until you reach your next destination. Once you arrive, you can release the hardware by pulling up on the lever release in the middle of the ratchet hardware and opening it until it is flat.
Ratchet Straps are available in numerous widths of webbing ranging from 1 inch, 2 inch, 3 inch, and 4 inches wide. Ratchet straps are ideal for securing applications in pickup trucks, flatbed trailers, moving vans, utility trailers, enclosed trailers, dry van trailers, and more.
At Trucking Depot, we can custom-make ratchet straps at our facility in Bellville, Ohio, to the exact specifications that you are looking for. Whether you are looking for a unique hardware combination, a length of webbing, or a personalization option such as the color of webbing to match your brand, or even stenciling to reduce theft and raise awareness of your business.

Retractable Ratchet Straps
Retractable Ratchet Straps are a great alternative tie down strap compared to traditional ratchet straps. Retractable ratchet straps have a ratchet mechanism that allows the extra webbing to retract back into the spool of webbing automatically.
Available in 1-inch heavy-duty webbing with the heaviest-duty working load limit rating in the retractable ratchet strap industry. This product is sold in Red, Gray, Blue, and Black at one great price.
The retractable ratchet design is excellent for securing cargo. Attach the short end of the retractable to your anchor point, pull out the required length of webbing to reach the other end, and with a button, remove the excess slack and tighten the strap into place in seconds. Our patented design helps to make securing cargo a breeze.
Retractable ratchet straps work great with securement applications ranging from lawnmowers, motorcycles, ATVs, dirt bikes, securing pallets, boxes, pickup truck beds, canoes, and more.
Cam Buckle Tie Down Straps & Lashing Straps
Cam Buckle Straps are commonly used for dry van trailers and enclosed trailers in combination with e-track rails. Cam Buckle Straps can also be called Lashing Straps around the cargo control industry.
Cam buckle straps are tightened using hand strength and cargo buckles. The buckle hardware is designed to open and allow webbing to be threaded through the hardware to the desired strength, once released it can hold the webbing in place until it reaches the final destination.
One of the benefits of using hand strength to tighten cam buckle straps is that it helps prevent overtightening damage that other hardware such as ratchets can cause if not used with caution. This makes it ideal for securing sensitive cargo such as antiques, valuables, and sentimental items that are either expensive to replace or not replaceable at all. Despite being tightened using hand strength, 2-inch cam buckle straps can have safe working load limit ratings of 915 lbs per tie-down strap.
Cam buckle straps are made in either 1-inch or 2-inch webbing sizes. They can be assembled with a wide range of end-fitting hardware, such as hooks, e-track fittings, or even endless options, using no hardware to bundle cargo together or for outdoor applications, like treestands.
Some of the most popular cam buckle securement applications include securing motorcycles, hunting treestands, pallets inside of dry vans, or for professional movers moving from one location to another safely.
A majority of our cam buckle straps are made in-house and can be custom-made to order with options that work best for your securement application. If you have any questions or need a custom-made option not listed on our website, please call our experts at 800-444-0956 for further information and pricing.
Endless Loop Tie Down Straps
Endless loop tie down straps are exactly as the name suggests and are made without any metal hardware at the ends. Endless loop tie-down straps are ideal for bundling cargo together by wrapping around the cargo and tightening with either ratchet hardware or cam buckle hardware.
Endless straps are ideal for applications such as bundling cargo together to utilize available space, securing cargo to a pallet, or even using the straps for outdoor hunting treestand applications where safety is an absolute must. Endless loops also work great at holding items in place during a move such as moving blankets or tarps to protect the cargo underneath safely. These straps are made from 1-inch, 2-inch, 3-inch, or 4-inch wide polyester tie-down webbing and can be made in almost any length of webbing that your application requires.
Ratchet hardware works better for heavier cargo applications or for added security and safety. In comparison, endless loop cam buckle straps are better suited for lighter-duty securement applications and also help reduce the possibility of overtightening damage as they are tightened using hand strength.
E Track Tie Down Straps for E Track Rails
E Track Straps are one of the most popular types of tie down straps and are designed to work with e track rail systems that can be installed inside of enclosed trailers, dry vans, moving vans, and more. E-track rails can be run either horizontally or vertically along the entire length of the trailer, making it very easy to find a securement anchor point that works best for your cargo.
E Track tie-down straps are made with either ratchet hardware or cam buckle hardware as a tightening mechanism depending on the type of cargo you intend to secure and personal preferences.
Some of the most common e-track strap lengths include 12 feet, 16 feet, and 20 feet. These lengths are color-coded according to industry standards: Yellow for 12 feet, Gray for 16 feet, and Blue for 20 feet. We also offer optional stenciling for those who are interested in placing their company branding on the webbing to help create brand awareness or prevent theft.
If you already have tie-down straps with traditional hook hardware, we sell e track rope tie-offs that have an e track fitting on one end of the strap and a delta ring on the other end, making traditional straps with hooks compatible. These are custom-made to order and can be made in the same colors as your existing tie-down straps or the color of webbing of your choice.
Winch Straps for Flatbed Trailers
Winch Straps are specifically designed either as a replacement for damaged tie down straps such as ratchet straps or cam buckles or used for flatbed trailers and are tightened in place using flatbed winches. Winches are installed along the sides of the flatbed trailer near the rub rails and are tightened using winch bars as an alternative to traditional ratchet or cam buckle hardware.
One of the main reasons winch straps are the go-to choice for flatbed professionals is that the cost of replacing damaged winch straps is much less than purchasing new ratchet straps. This is especially true if you consistently purchase replacement flatbed straps as the costs can quickly add up. The huge savings come from replacing only the strap instead of buying bulky metal hardware each time a flatbed tie down strap wears out or becomes damaged.
Winch straps are available in 2-inch, 3-inch, or 4-inch sizes. The polyester webbing can be sewn together with end fitting hardware options such as Flat Hooks, Wire Hooks, Chain Anchors, and more. Once assembled the working load limits range between 3,335 and 6,000 lbs per strap depending on your cargo control needs. Common lengths include either 27-foot or 30-foot, but these are custom-made to order in-house at our facility in Bellville, Ohio, and can be made in any length of webbing.

Frequently Asked Tie Down Strap Questions
What Should I Do with Excess Tie-Down Webbing? – The best way to get rid of excess tie-down webbing after your strap is tightened to the desired strength is to wrap the tie-down webbing around the tie-down strap to avoid friction from rubbing against the excess webbing that could cause friction burns. Friction burns occur when the tie-down webbing rubs against a sharp edge, corner, or movement against cargo causing the tie-down webbing to weaken. Excess tie-down webbing can also cause tie-down hardware to jam if you are not careful when tightening hardware such as a Ratchet.
How Many Tie Down Straps Do I Need? – In general, you should always have AT LEAST four different tie-down securement points to avoid load shifts from cornering, a quick stop, a sudden lane change, or a fast acceleration. Load shifts can happen often and are one of the number one ways to break tie-down straps as extra weight can stretch the webbing too far causing it to fail.
How Do I Find What My Tie Down Straps Are Safely Rated For? – You can find out what your tie-down straps are rated for by looking for the tag on each one of your tie-down straps. If your straps do not have a label or a tag on the strap showing you the weight limitations, it is often illegal to be on the road as well as extremely dangerous to do so. Working Load Limit (WLL) tags should always be present on tie-down straps as they show you what your straps can safely secure without the risk of straps snapping or your cargo coming unsecured during transportation.
WARNING: Do not ever exceed the working load limit of any strap at any time. Remember, the assembly is only as strong as its weakest link and should be inspected before every use.
